This is a short film on the birth of El Foukr R'Assembly and the artistic vision of Algerian musicians towards Sub Saharan Africa. A taxi-driver & a farmer, a builder, a graphic designer and a sound engineer, Oualid Khelifi had met them at various parts of Algeria before suggesting the idea of a long term project around short film and music linking the Maghreb with the rest of Africa. El Foukr R'Assembly members had never performed together before, and two of them have never been on stage nor recorded professionally.
This piece as well as an 6 tracks-album were produced under the conceptual umbrella of Afreekyama Collective. Through short film and music, El Foukr R'Assembly looks to foster independant cultural production between North Africa and the rest of the continent, away from state-funding and its sub sequential censorship and demagogy.
