The Great Garden: Central Valley, California 2010
In recent years, recession and drought has made more visible an irony that exists in America's breadbasket: the farm workers who harvest our food many times literally don't have access to the fruits of their labor. Humberto Nunez has worked in Central Valley fields for decades. In this video, he shares what it's like to be one of the thousands who have been receiving state-funded food aid since the summer 2009.
This video was shot in Reedley and Selma, California, in 2010. It was produced by Pauline Bartolone and Russel A. Daniels.
