Alon Nechushtan and his quartet - live from the childrens museum of Harlem.
Special instrucional concert for young listeners.
Here we are introducing a very special mode from the Far East, using a pentatonic scale that has been altered to fit a triton interval that is very popular in the Indonesian and Japanese cultures. The song also allows, throughout this special arrangement, the horn player to elaborate and improvise on this exotic mode, using a chord-scale relationship and particularly a modal harmonic concept that was very popular by composers who adapted traditional music, such as Duke Ellington, John Lewis et al.
Alon Nechushtan - piano
