A small kinetic typography animation that reveals quotes about stars in the style of graffiti. Created using Adobe After Effects CC, the process of creating this video and the inspiration for it is document on my blog mcganimation.tumblr.com. The type itself and the cloud graffiti was created in Photoshop CC with different layers (I think I ended with over 110 individual layers across all the pieces) and then these files were imported into AE where I animated the layers individually, primarily with the Stroke effect and masking. The graffiti pieces surrounding the type are sourced from Flickr through Creative Commons and blended and colour corrected to appear as though they belong on this wall. The wall was also sourced through Flickr and the footage of space was masked in behind the image of the wall, with the footage being sourced through Creative Commons from Youtube. The soundtrack for this video was sourced from Soundcloud through Creative Commons and edited in Adobe Audition CC. Lastly, the stars were created in After Effects using expressions to affect opacity creating a blinking star appearance, basic rotation/scale keyframing and a blur effect. The entire thing was then shot with a 3D camera with adjustments to position and orientation.
