The Armenian Copper Programme, a private company, plans to build a massive open-pit copper mine in the small town of Teghut, Armenia. The plan, which has been approved by the national government, will result in the leveling of 1,500 acres of forest.
Opponents say the deforestation will reduce biodiversity and damage local ecosystems in northeastern Armenia. The NGO EcoDar, which has sued to halt the mining project, produced this video about Teghut.
