David Boyle is a Principal Economist within the Glasgow City Region Intelligence Hub, with a particular focus on socioeconomic analysis and economic modelling, He believes that providing local authorities and partners in Glasgow City Region with transparent, accountable, and relevant socioeconomic data will facilitate policy makers to design the correct interventions that provide the greatest benefit to residents and businesses within the Region.
In this video, David presents on how the Glasgow City Region gather evidence to inform policy development and decision making at a Regional and Local Authority scale. This presentation will utilise a recent example of the Hub’s collaboration with the ONS Local service to access productivity data insights that hadn’t been explored previously.
This presentation was part of an online peer-learning and networking workshop, Enhancing evidence use in Scottish local policymaking, which took place 10:00-12:30 on Wednesday 11th June 2025.
The workshop was a collaboration between the Local Area Research + Intelligence Association (LARIA) in Scotland, Office for National Statistics: ONS Local, Improvement Service (IS) and Scottish Policy & Research Exchange (SPRE).
