"Celestial Dodge Ball," by Judit Gyorgyey Ries
Asteroids and comets are the smallest bodies in our solar system, but
that doesn't mean that we can just ignore them. Judit will identify the asteroids that have a chance to impact Earth, and review some realistic scenarios in which we might avoid, or at least lessen the consequences of an impact.
Dr. Judit Ries is a Research Associate at the University of Texas/McDonald Observatory, and at the Center for Space Research. She received her PH.D. from UT-Austin with a research focus on the motion and physical properties of asteroids.
