Impowering Impovering (2014) is a documentation about mobile sound installation performed by dancer using shoes as a musical instrument.
So called shaman Shoes are superstitious armour that alter mundane movement into tantric and energetic sound. It creates an empowering experience, which heightens the sense of being in the present. It is both a transportable and transformable installation as it directly reacts to the movement of the wearer.
The shoes contain sensors that register information of velocity and angle which is translated into sound and its various effects.
The roots for the Shaman Shoes project are grounded in thoughts and ideas on how fear accompanies human existence. And how people have always made and had things that protect them from what they are afraid of: prayers, dances, amulets and various other objects. Shaman shoes were made into a kind of shamanistic weapon that alter the mundane movement of walking into a tantric and forceful beat. They scare away demons and bad spirits and heighten the awareness of being strongly in the present. They are empowering.
