Beacon Choir is an interactive sound and light installation built for play, exploration and collaboration in a public space. Using simple hand gestures, visitors are empowered to create soundscapes and illuminate space using a pallet of sounds stored within 12 beacons. Beacon Choir was commissioned for the London Bridge Live Arts Festival that took place in September 2014.
Beacon Choir is designed and built by myself with support from London Bridge Live Arts Festival, IdeasTap and Present Plus.
The piece consists of hand-made electronics, Arduino, infrared tracking technology, 3D printed and handmade wood objects. The interaction takes place within custom built software in Max MSP and triggers a bespoke sound world composed by myself.
