I've been a bike racer off and on for a few years now and I always like to be friends with my favorite bike shop and my local camera rental place. This spot happened after hanging out one day and spending time with Greg when the new Cervelo R3-SL came in. Later that night Greg took the bike apart and weighed everything and we talked about how much the frame weighed the next day. It wasn't until I was on a quiet ride on my own later that I thought about the visuals and began planning the spot. Charlie Gruet had just been up in Providence shooting a promo for "The Brotherhood" on Showtime and came back saying "Hey Man, there is this thing called the Brevis, its awesome." In those days the Brevis still shot upside down on the imager and we took a Sony 8045q and flipped it upside down and shot with it all night that way. We shot this all one night with a couple of scribbled pages of notes, camera layout and shot list. We went back and snagged a couple of extra shots two days later to flesh it out. Unfortunately, Cervelo never used the spot except for for a few plays during the mountain stages of the Tour de France, and I never really knew what to do next with it. It was made to try some stuff out and have some fun.
Shot with HVX-200, Brevis 35mm adapter and a single lens, the Nikon 105 Macro
Lighting, audio and everything else done by Peter Nicoll and Charlie Gruet.
