This is a critical moment in our movements against mass incarceration and state repression. Prison Radio has been recording Mumia Abu-Jamal and other prisoners for over 20 years, and with the Abolitionist Law Center and the Amistad Law Project we are filing an urgent lawsuit to block this unconstitutional law.
This federal court case will set a legal precedent that upholds the right to record and broadcast prisoners' voices. SB508 violates prisoners' First Amendment rights and has received public criticism from the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for Constitutional Rights.
