Inside the capital of boxing in West Africa: Bukom, Ghana.

Here taxi drivers hang miniature boxing gloves in their windshields, kids regularly drop school to train, or work, or gamble — and world champions are born. To fight in the street becomes a must at a young age in a once prosperous neighborhood that produced heroes like Azuma Nelson, Ike Quartey, and current welterweight contender JOSHUA CLOTTEY.

Every so often, someone breaks the cycle and gets a chance to see the world beyond. For those who don’t, mere survival is a challenge.
