Katharina Lutzky, Pia Reschberger, Leonie Schlager | The Book of Legba | 00:10:36 | 2014
The short-film “The Book of Legba“ consists of a set composed as a pop-up book.
As the book is opened and the pages are turned, the sets are shown in a frontal way to the camera. The story of the film is told by projected animations in the form of silhouettes on the face of the book.
The culmination of the story takes place at a crossroads, where one of the most famous myths of the blues is told. Here Legba meets a blues-singer who wants to learn how to play. The encounter doesn‘t go according to plan and Legba turns to his home, where we first met him in the first scene. On his way there, he tells us about the blues-singers who enjoyed or rather feared his influence and how important his existence was in the communication between different worlds.
