Sergio, a peasant, works in ancient olive groves. Father Oreste ,a priest, ministers to women caught in global sexual slavery. These two men in their eighties are engaged in traditional occupations in modern day Italy. A 14th century fresco, "The Allegory of Good and Bad Government," by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, is preserved in the Siena town hall. This painting speaks to their common concerns. The Peasant and the Priest offers a rare view of Tuscany, a much-love region that has been shaped and continually transformed by co-existing extremes of labor, cultivation and exploitation.
