„Ongoing“ consists out of a undefined number of walking flower pots which are programmed to find the brightest spot in a room without hitting any potential objects on their way.
This very simple behaviour gives a bit of the lost freedom back, that the domesticated and to a piece of furniture degraded flower has lost during the history of men and plants. But it only seems like the plant can now decide where it wants to be - it is still a men-made machine controlling the movements. Especially when the plants start to move in a swarm and fight for the light, very complex behaviours appear, even so the program that pilots each single pot is very basic and its aims are simple. This work doesn’t only question the relationship between men and machine or men and nature but also our definitions of plants and animals.
