Retrats Coreografics, as the title reads in Catalan, is a collection of portraits of international choreographers. As a former dancer and choreographer, I have been interested in the ways choreographers get the ideas for their dances, the ways they create them and how much of their personal life is reflected in their work. "Invisible Wings," the first documentary that I directed, shot and edited with this intention, was produced by the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts, USA, in 1998. Upon my return to my native Barcelona from New York, I filmed dance performances at the Mercat de les Flors. The idea of the Retrats Coreografics was born in conversations with the director of the theater, Francesc Casadesus.
Retrats Coreografics was produced by the Mercat de les Flors. I scripted, directed, shot and edited them.
I want to thank the director of the Mercat, Francesc Casadesus for having made it possible.
