When crisis strikes, many of us rely on relatives and our church family for support, but some parents don’t have that safety net. Children are especially at risk for neglect or abuse as their parents struggle to cope with crushing circumstances and emotions. The goal of Safe Families for Children is to offer support in a time of need and reunite children with their families in a stronger home environment. DC127 is partnering with DC’s Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) to bring the Safe Families for Children movement to Washington, DC, and support the families in our city.
Safe Families for Children is a national movement that provides support for families in crisis. We help parents build stability in their lives when they may have nowhere else to turn. Our volunteer Host Families provide a temporary safe haven for their children, just like an aunt or uncle would.
First and foremost, this is a movement of churches that are driven by volunteers like you. We have a goal of recruiting 45 Host Families by October, 2015. Achieving this goal is a big challenge, and it won’t be easy. We can only succeed if we get every church member involved.
We can’t do this alone. We need your help. Won’t you join us?
Everyone can do something!
