Fort Clonque is in the most amazing location at the seaward end of a tidal causeway on extreme west end of Alderney, one of the Channel Islands, about 8 miles off the French coast. Head west from here and the next landfall is on Newfoundland, a little over 3,500 km away.
Wild and remote - I wonder why it suited me so well ;-)
The fort is owned and let by the Landmark Trust who do an amazing job in saving, restoring and maintaining some incredible old landmark buildings around the UK. More on the Landmark Trust at landmarktrust.org
It felt such a privilege to be able to stay there for a few days with friends, even when the wind blew and the rain fell.
I hope you enjoy this montage from October 2014.
