How to Explain pictures to a Dead Rabbit

Action Transfers | Flesh Archive

Performance art lives in the memories of those who experienced it. Working from memory, I archive actions of others (witnessed firsthand between 1999-2011), into my own body. These actions originated in a space that no longer exists and have been documented scarcely, if at all. In the following collection from Action Transfers | Flesh Archive, 13 actions make use of the screen as a site. Shot at 24 frames per second and translated into black and white, these silent documents address the slippery role of documentation within performace art. Using the parameters of my own physicality, I am questioning the role memory plays within experiential art mediums, how actions are read on different bodies, and current discource around documentation, re-performance, and authorship.
