Macarena Rose, ( macarenarose.com) Belize Talk Radio Host (facebook.com/BelizeTalkRadio), takes us to downtown San Ignacio Town to see the 1st ever Flash Mob on Burns Avenue ! See fellow Expats in Belize ! The first ever flash dance mob in Belize descended upon downtown San Ignacio, one of the Country's major cities. . Ancient Mayan spirits met modern flash mob dancers and a good time was had by all.
The dancers performed on Burns Avenue in downtown San Ignacio, ((sanignaciotown.com/localinfo/maps.html) ) the site where workers installing water lines discovered Mayan artifacts.
The road was then closed off permanently to car traffic and converted to a quaint walking avenue that delights locals and tourists. Those artifacts are now preserved at the same place they were found, in the ground, under the street. There are welcoming restaurants, like Mr. Greedy’s Pizza ( facebook.com/MrGreedys) and shops along the sidewalk, like Back to my Roots, (facebook.com/pages/Back-to-my-Roots-Gift-Shop-San-Ignacio-Belize/160166344035897). The friendly ambiance of San Ignacio Town invites you to stop and enjoy your day--and maybe catch a glimpse of those dancers!
Dino is the expat in Belize who has taught line dancing to a group of locals and expats like himself. Now they take it gleefully to the streets! Gwido, a well known local Realtor, speaks with the dancers, to get the insider view of what it was like for them to dance in the street!
This ancient street of the Mayans has now been to be the host of dancing throngs-just as it did in the past.
As the saying goes, The more things change, the more they stay the same".
