"Why Good Things Happen to Good People" session - Part 1
Stephen Post, the moderator of the session, delivers opening remarks on the entire session.
This session will explore the exciting new science that shows that doing "unto others" is good not just for the recipient, but is also a blessing for the giver. In the words of Dr. Karl Menninger, "Love cures--both the ones who give it and the ones who recieve it." The neurological connection between giving and joy, the life-long benefits of a generous life, and even the probability of a longer life will be examined. These findings will be presented by leading researchers, and then examined from the perspectives of evolutionary biology and the universal spiritual-theological notion that love of neighbor brings blessings to those who freely give. 'Tis better to give than to receive--or at least as good--and science says its so.
