madman in the rain

hello people of the vimeo...this is my first ever upload on to this great webspace..i should say from the start that i'm first and foremost a songwriter..music is my passion,and i in no way see myself as a film maker,but i have come here to learn more about the artform,and also to find well rounded music minded film makers who might collaborate with me on the visuals..if you want to have a listen to my songs you can find them at www.soundcloud.com/marycigarettes the little clip here was filmed by a man who had never held a video camera before....this was deliberate...i had read a neat thing where david bowie and brian eno would get their able musicians to swap to unfamiliar instruments in order to revive a rawness if things got too slick..the bowie song'boys keeps swinging'is an example of that...even though it's played by professionals,the happy results sound like a high school band at an end of term celebration....so this little clip was shot in the southern california desert by me and a sweet friend high on marijuana flavoured fruit juice...it is willfully chaotic,and hopes to articulate a feeling of desolation and confusion, searching for resolve......it is me trying to make my shortcomings work for me...but like i say,as a singer/songwriter,i'm here to watch and learn the craft of video making...all feedback,no matter how cruel, is most welcome..warm regards..mary cigarettes.
