While observers have noted an increasingly favorable buzz on the local new business scene, there is likely no surer indication conditions have definitively “arrived” than when our alma mater speaks. And with the recent launch of the Chicago Innovation Exchange (CIE), whose acronyms could as well stand for Collaboration-Incubation-Education, that day has truly arrived.

John Flavin, Executive Director, Chicago Innovation Exchange
Mr. Flavin brings decades of success as a life sciences entrepreneur to his current role and will tell us the inside story of what is designed to be an archetypical partnership between town and gown. Its aim is to help launch 10 to 20 companies annually with facilities that can accommodate up to 350 people in full working mode. Join us to see if CIE is a match so that you might be one of them.
Currently, John is also a managing director with Flavin Ventures LLC, and was previously director of Chicago Innovation Mentors, a technology commercialization program linking start-ups with larger corporations and academia/researchers. He led two successful IPOs and raised more than $200 million in private and public funding as a C-level executive for Advanced Life Sciences and Medi-Chem Life Sciences. John has two degrees in finance with his BS from Marquette University and his MBA from Lewis University.
