A Month in Fès
For one glorious (very hot) month this year, 27 participants from all over the African continent and the diaspora came together to think deeply, provocatively, and courageously about the world and their place in it, focusing specifically on Africa’s future. The first of five planned Nomadic African Studios — in Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire, Mauritius, Johannesburg and Accra — over the next five years, it was a unique and uniquely inspiring experience. Thousands of hours of footage have been condensed into eight short minutes that capture the essence of our time together. Directed by filmmaker @cesarschofield, this short documentary is a poetic archive of conversations, trips, experiences, experiments and ambitions.
Over the coming months, we will begin building the Nomadic African Studio archive, a digital resource of teaching briefs, projects, short films and research material that will be the backbone of this unique teaching experiment.
