An opportunity to shoot the cranes rimlighted occurred after sunrise was over. The large number of birds offered a sound track that reminded me of an elementary school brass ensemble tuning up for a recital. Watch for the characteristic extension of the neck before the first bird takes off. This position may be held for a few seconds (not captured) and is a very useful sign that the bird is going to fly.
Sony PMW300 with Nikon 80-400mm zoom shooting somewhere less than 400.
