This video has no sound. It is a PP show that depicts how two "distinctive trees" on a property slated for infill development were damaged during excavation. These silver maples are "distinctive trees," as defined by the Urban Tree Conservation By-law. Yet they were not protected from injury because the City of Ottawa is not enforcing or implementing the "injury" provisions that are explicit in its own by-law.
Community associations and city councillors in all wards impacted by infill developments must demand that the City enforce and implement the "injury" provisions of the Urban Tree Conservation By-law.
