Keynote presentation by Cathrin Bengesser (Aarhus University, Denmark): Discoverability of What for Whom? Inequalities in Europe’s Path towards a Competitive European Audiovisual Industry and a Diverse Cultural Public Sphere

Cathrin Bengesser is Associate Professor for Digital Media Industries at Aarhus University’s Department of Media and Journalism Studies. She researches the development of the European streaming and film market as well as transnational audiences and European media policy. She is a co-investigator in the Horizon Europe project “Crescine” (2023-26), which examines how the competitiveness of film industries in small markets can be increased.  She was PI on the AUFF-funded (2021-24) project "EUVoD" that studies the impact of media systemic differences on the transformation from broadcast to VoD markets in Europe. Cathrin chairs the ECREA Television section and is the co-director of Aarhus University's Center for Transnational Media research.
