On December 4th, Jews for Racial and Economic Justice organized a civil disobedience to demand justice for Eric Garner and an end to broken windows policing.
Our action was part of the larger #ThisStopsToday mobilization, led by communities of color on the front lines, doing deeply transformative organizing in their communities that form the foundation of the raging movement to end police brutality.
We know that our brief experience of arrest and imprisonment was the exception and not the rule. For most people caught up in our criminal justice system, the consequences are devastating. This is the truth experienced for hundreds of years in communities of color and that white americans are finally waking up to this week. This is a movement moment, and we need you with us.
