Bárðarbunga
While Karen Vermeren has been to the North of Iceland in August 2014, the Bárðarbunga volcano became active. For two weeks, the magma searched a way out under the glacier Vatnajökull, accompanied by a series of earthquakes. Finally the magma started to escape behind the ice. This caused a lot of phenomena, visualised in 4 sheets with an underlying layer of hot magma. The folded posters will take you from the black lava stones via the smog of yellow sulphur dioxide to the melting ice cap and split up in the red lava flow.
