The Murray Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit and Barrier Replacement Project is delivering major safety, mobility, and infrastructure upgrades for one of the City’s most important coastal connections. The project is strengthening the bridge’s foundation with new piles and columns, widening the bridge deck, and replacing outdated traffic barriers with modern see-through railings that open up views of the harbor and ocean.
The finished bridge will feature 6-foot bike lanes, a 7.5-foot sidewalk along the south (ocean) side to support a two-way pedestrian path, and standard 6-inch curbs to improve comfort and predictability for people biking. The project also includes an upgraded County sewer force main that serves Live Oak, Capitola, Soquel, and Aptos—an important regional infrastructure improvement. Learn more at santacruzca.gov/msb
