Veterans Moving Forward is a housing unit for military veterans at the Vista Detention Facility to address special needs with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD),Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), etc. The program was expanded following the success of the pilot program in November 2013. Only one of the 69 released in the program reoffended due to a drug possession violation. VMF started with 32 beds. An additional 32 beds were added to address the needs of veterans in jail so they can become productive members of society upon release.
