Soil Society – a Swedish Mongolian Culture Association – is a non–governmental organization that functions as a platform for artistic collaborations between our two countries. Soil Society was founded in 2003. The board, as well as its members, are based in Sweden, and in Mongolia. We welcome all those who are interested to join. The meaning of the word “soil” means “culture” in Mongolian and implies a possibility for growth in English.
From Mongolia came the wish to create meetings and interactions between artists. This lead to the idea of Art Camp, that in collaboration with Swedish artist was realized for the first time in the summer of 2004. The focus was put on what happens between people in a relatively spontaneous meeting between different forms of art, in a site specific work at the brink of nature.
