Walter Afanasieff is a multiple Grammy award-winning songwriter, composer and producer. He has worked with some of the industry’s biggest stars: Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Richard Marx, Whitney Houston, Thalía, Lionel Richie, Luther Vandross, George Benson, Destiny's Child, Kenny G, Michael Bolton, Toni Braxton, Darren Hayes (Savage Garden), Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Mathis, Kenny Loggins, Barbra Streisand, Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Mika, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Josh Groban, Jordin Sparks, Tina Arena, Lara Fabian, and Leona Lewis, among others.
Walter began his career playing keyboards with jazz/rock fusion violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. Soon afterward, he was recruited by music producer/songwriter and drummer Narada Michael Walden, where he produced and played keyboards on various albums, including Whitney Houston’s self-titled debut album.
Other successes followed; he produced and co-wrote the James Bond movie theme, License to Kill, sung by Gladys Knight. He produced My Heart Will Go On for the Titanic movie, sung by Celine Dion.
Walter also produced a number of motion picture soundtracks for: Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Bodyguard and the animated film Hercules.
Walter is best known for his amazing long term success working with Mariah Carey. His work with her included several Billboard Hot 100 number 1 hits, a Grammy award nomination and an ASCAP Song of the Year award.
One of Walter’s greatest gifts is his ability to combine the old and the new; to take a classic and still make it sound fresh.
Walter is the President of ISINA, responsible for overseeing each of the five departments: DJ and electronic dance music, vocalists, instrumentalists, sound engineering and composers.
