The vast expanse of Russia is home to over 4 million native peoples including such tribes as the Buryat, Chukot, Even, Evenki, Tuvan and Sakha. All total, there are over 40 distinct native people groups. While the atheism of the Soviet Union is still pervasive today, many still hold to their traditional religions of Shamanism, Animism and Buddhism, paying homage to various spirits and venerating ancestors. There are thousands of villages and population points among the Native peoples where there is no witness of the gospel whatsoever, and where people have never even heard the gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed. Pray for indigenous leaders and missionaries to be able to reach these unreached places and that the Native Peoples of Siberia would embrace Christ as the only way of salvation.
