To protect perceived economic benefit, officials in Pismo Beach and Grover Beach want off-roading on the Oceano Dunes to continue. Both cities wrote the Air Pollution Control Board to take no action on the APCD Phase 2 Particulate Matter Study. This video shows some of that opposition, plus the start of the March 24 APCD Board meeting. Larry Allen tells the board that the study links activities at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recretion Area to the health threatening air pollution.
The APCD Board is comprised of all five supervisors plus one each of seven cities in the county. The chair of the Board is a member of the Grover Beach City Council.
