Jeffrey Carter - HydeParkAngels.com/Members/2
The latest annual review from “BuiltInChicago” (BuiltInChicago.org) on the local start-up scene found promising conditions here, with $1 billion plus of total funding up by 169% contributed by more than 70 venture capital firms from around the U.S. This favorable environmental is to a good measure to the foresight and dedication of a group of Chicago Booth graduates who in 2006 formed Hyde Park Angel Network (HPA).
Mr. Carter is currently and HPA director/officer and has been involved with HPA since its inception. He has both decades of successful financial futures trading/leadership at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and substantial nationwide experience nurturing new enterprises. With inside insight on the process of early-stage investing, he will offer a potentially demystifying appraisal of the high-risk/high-return practice of turning concepts into game changing companies.
In addition to starting Hyde Park Angels, Jeff is active with area entrepreneurship via One Design Company and The Coop. A former Chicago Mercantile Exchange member and on its Board of Directors, he helped orchestrate CME’s highly successful IPO. He comments extensively on markets via multiple electronic and print media outlets such as CNBC and Bloomberg and his blog site Points and Figures (PointsAndFigures.com) was named “most influential” by Minyanville (Minyanville.com/mvpremium/the-20-most-influential-blogs1/). He is a trustee of the National World War II Museum. Mr. Carter graduated from the University of Illinois College of Business and earned his MBA from Chicago Booth.
