I was curious to realise a film without an initial script, and knowing only a vague journeys arc.
The scenes and performances were not known to the cast & crew till we arrived on location.
I wanted to take a risk by using the notion of 'chance' to carve out the narrative. This method of not knowing brings more mystery for me in filmmaking. To trust the 'unexpected'.
I was inspired by filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini approach to the idea of allowing people to simply be themselves.
By seeing them in a slightly imaginative space & allowing them to occupy the situation.
Within a set of parameters, the performers found their own sense of time & form.
The longer we work in this imaginary space, the more they created their own real space.
Attentive to the performers motions, curiosity, vulnerabilities, elations, & transformations. I feel this way of creating film has an alluring alchemy. From there, I just elaborate on it by adding the artifice of cinematography & film language techniques.
SOME SORT OF PLOT:
A woman is made redundant from her job. The unexpected conundrum had caused her to suddenly detach from the pace of the world and take time to reclaim her spirit. She escapes to the bush, tensions surface when she discover the truth was all a lie.
