Before President Ronald Reagan announced America’s War on Drugs, places like Aurora Concept Inc. became popular, discreet places for parents to send kids who had gotten involved with drugs or had mental health issues.
As a young teenager, Adam Forgash spent three years inside the facility. He and other adolescents went through bizarre treatments, including sleep deprivation, degrading punishments and humiliating rituals with much older adults who were also battling alcohol and drug addiction.
For some, Aurora Concept was a brainwashing cult, for others a life saving program.
This film will examine Aurora and its “Concept.” Was it about rehabilitation, money or was it about one man’s god complex?
After thirty years of telling these surreal stories of abuse and abandonment to friends and family, Adam O. Forgash spent six years collecting interviews, never before published photographs and documents to try to tell the story of what happened inside Aurora.
He's hoping to complete this film. If you or anyone in your family was a client at Aurora, your comments, questions, photographs, video clips and recollections are always welcome at the Aurora concept-documentary page on facebook or email at email@example.com.
