Synopsis

An obsessive exploration of the three geometric dimensions in hopes of reaching a fourth.

Director's intention note

«XYZ» takes hold of an empty office building as an emblem for the modern self-imprisonment of humankind, only to shatter its implied narrative to shreds. What’s left is a skeleton, a timeless space, a ghost of what once was, now filled with eternal possibilities. Drawing on structural filmmaking techniques, the film intertwines scientific studies of physiology and psychology with the raw plasticity of moving images, taking the corridors of the skyscraper to new sensible, obscure and perceptual realms.

Director Biography

Alexandre Alagôa is a Portuguese experimental filmmaker. His short films have been screened at more than 100 festivals all around the world including Vienna Shorts, Go Short, Oberhausen, IndieLisboa, Festival Tous Courts.
