The Mariposa Chandelier makes taking the stairs more appealing than the elevator. Viewers trigger animations and sounds which cascade through the entire installation.
Architectural firm, Shears Atkins & Rockmore reached out to Interhacktive with the goal of making the new Denver Housing Authority’s Mariposa building reflect the city’s focus on health, art and fast growing tech culture. After a round of prototyping and proposals, DHA awarded Interhacktive with an Art and Health grant. Interhacktive worked closely with ADX Portland to fabricate the 40’ tall Mariposa Chandelier.
The entire installation is running off Unity3d to drive the LEDs, take the inputs from the buttons in the handrail and drive the 12 channel audio system.
