In the Bible, we are instructed regarding the gifts of the Holy Spirit, one of which is "prophecy." 1Corinthians 12:10 states, "To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues." So the gift of prophecy (inspiration to prophesy) was given to the Church, the body of Christ.
We can learn much about this gift of prophecy from the Bible itself which is both instructive as well as filled with examples of "prophesying."
In this teaching, Dr. Don G. Pickney makes a distinction however between the personal gift of prophecy, mentioned in the above scripture, and Biblical prophecies of the scripture which Jesus promised, "not one jot or tittle will pass away until all are fulfilled."
His purpose of making this distinction is to strengthen faith in the fact that one great Biblical prophecy is in the process of fulfillment in the earth, yet the world and the Church are oblivious to what is taking place. It is a Bible pronouncement about "the Day of Jehovah Tsaba," a day in which angelic armies will go throughout the earth, shaking all nations, and the desirable things of the nations (gold, sliver, wealth, substance and goods) will come to the Church the body of Christ.
Regarding this great event, the found of the Methodist Church in generations past, spoke: “That the church shall draw, or receive the wealth of nations, and the riches, and power of kings, and whatever is most excellent, and that it shall come freely, and affectionately, as milk flows from the breast of the mother.”
Pastor Don reveals in this teaching the difference between "personal prophecy" (prophesying) and the words spoken in scripture by the ancient prophets of old in the Bible.
This teaching prepares the viewer for an even greater depth of understanding in the next to come in this series.
