ÅRETS BILDSPEL / MULTIMEDIA 2013 - 1:a Pris - Magnus Wennman, Aftonbladet - RAT CAPITAL
Stockholm has been called "the rat capital of Scandinavia".
There are over a million rats in the city. Probably more than there are people.
They live in holes in the ground or in the sewers, and under cover of darkness they scurry up, hunting for food.
As the cold arrives, the rats come inside, looking for warmth. Into our homes. 95 percent get there via the drains. And they are a growing problem. Rat exterminations have increased by 32 percent since 2006. If you see a dead rat on the ground, you can be sure that there are ten times more dead rats in dens underground.
