An emotionally vulnerable young woman, Erica (24), travels to a darkened house near Swansea. Inside she carefully takes a rucksack from her shoulders and places it in view. She sits contemplating both the bag and the journey she is about to embark on.
The film came about as a collaboration between myself and the actors Cate Cammack & Sam Coulson.
The drama was filmed in Gower, Wales & Bristol over two weekends and using a crew of friends working in the industry and technical students from local colleges . Kit was 'borrowed' !!
I wanted to create a mood piece and set the drama in Gower, a dramatic landscape, as I knew this would play an important part in the film, helping connect and inform both the physical and emotional journey of the characters.
The film has since gone on and played at film festivals in the UK and abroad, winning Best International Drama at Cork, Ireland and being nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Sound Design at Southampton,England. The film has also played to packed audiences at special one of screenings or where the film has played as 'support feature' to the main film.
I have been truly touched by people's reactions to the film - thank you to all who have worked on it and also those of you who have taken time out to watch it.
