Bullet recording session in the North Idaho mountains for ULTIMATE BULLET HD Professional Sound Effects Library.
During the fall season in 2014 The Recordist traveled by 4x4 Ranger to a remote location high in the North Idaho mountains to record bullet impacts and pass by's for Bullets II SFX Library. This location was fairly open and produced some crazy echoes. This video showcases a few of the sounds recorded at one of the locations. This location was just off a logging road and the shooter was 1500 feet uprange. The Sennheiser MKH-8040ST XY microphone rig was placed out in the open 10 feet off the ground so the bullets would pass closely by but not hit the ground before the microphone. Some of the subsonic bullets fell short and hit the large rotted tree that had been abnadoned after the logging operation many years ago.
The rifles used at this location were a custom AAC 300 Blackout and a Remington 700. Both rifles were utilizing a Gemtech Sandstorm Suppressor. The ammunition shot was Gorilla Subsonic 300 BLK and Lapua Subsonic .308.
