Han Seok Hyun's work is based in ultimate respect for Mother Nature and awareness of evironmental issues. He studies how contemparary art and ecological practice can extend to meet each other for a successful combination.
Through REVERSE-REBIRTH, He intend to build a large tree from scrap wood with proper irrigation system upon which small plant organisms can grow. This production contemplates upon the typical tree-to-wood lifecycle by overturning it. Meanwhile, the concept of a man-made tree echoes the presence of man-made sceneries in many urban environments, posing the question as to what “nature” came to mean to contemporary city dwellers.
