Director Thomas Ostermeier and philosopher Simon Critchley debated one of the most lasting Hellenic ideals: democracy. They explored Athenian democracy in the context of Ostermeier’s production of Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People and tackled the question: does our contemporary notion of democracy still signify government by the people, for the people?
