Porsche ~ Magic Mirror Activation

Thinkingbox collaborated with OMD - Chicago's Ignition Factory to create an unassuming, albeit provocative, activation for the 2015 Porsche Macan. The strength of the idea lies in the confidence behind the power of the brand. Executed at Westfield mall in West Hollywood, unsuspecting drivers would approach Westfield's valet, coming to a stop beside a fourteen foot live-feed videowall 'reflecting' the driver as if looking into a mirror. However, rather than the driver seeing their own vehicle reflected back, a Porsche Macan stood aptly in place. Because Porsche believes every car should be a sports car. The simplicity of the execution involved plenty of complexities in development. Using OpenCV, inbound vehicles were tracked in advance using an HD camera rigged discreetly on the videowall. A stunning 3D Macan model would be composited onto a live feed, animating into the frame as the driver approached the valet booth. Needless to say, driver's were pleasantly surprised by the sly takeover. By the activation's completion, over one thousand drivers and bystanders watched every vehicle become a Porsche.
