This video was shot by SFCC students in the Intro to Documentary DV Production class and then edited together by instructor Colin Mulvany using Final Cut Pro X video editing software. The purpose is the assignment is for students to get familiar with their cameras and to do basic man-on-the-street interviews. They work in teams of four, and all get a chance to be behind the camera as well as ask questions of subjects. What I want the students to come away with is that from lots of raw video--in this case 45 minutes worth--a story can be crafted from just one double-stacked question. Later in class, I break down my edit in Final Cut Pro X, It is here students begin understand the power and the magic of video editing.
