Performance excerpt. Exploring the dualities of primal and contemporary, natural and unnatural, body and no body. On the left I build the nylon on my body. In the center, I focus my action on a canvas large enough to encompass my movement. My limbs are constricted and my vision is impaired. On the right, I cut and tear the fabric from my body and transfer it to the canvas. Candles provide the light. I burn vine to make charcoal and wrap nylon on sticks for brushes. Materials include water, sand, dirt, hair wax, gesso, and acrylic paints made from natural organic and synthetic organic pigments. While I appear to remove one skin, the paint builds on my body, becoming a new skin.
