Playing With Shadows is a feature documentary about China’s young generation fighting for their dreams under the economic booming. The story follows a young shadow puppet player for one year. This optimistic young man wants to try his best to protect this vanishing old art. But he got beaten times after another by the society, family and peers. Finally he gave up his dream. Like one character says, “There is hope. But the reality is so cruel.”
